A Message from the Officers

At South Range, the PTA makes significant contributions toward the betterment of the school.  This tradition has been made
possible by the dedication of many hard working parents who believe in the value of contributing to their child's future.  We
encourage all parents, caregivers and family members to become involved in some way.  This involvement could be simply to
join as a PTA member or volunteer with one of the many PTA sponsored events.  Not only will your participation be
appreciated by the school, but by the children as well.

This year's officers have served as board members, chaired several committees, and have logged many volunteer hours.  Please
join us in helping to make our children's school and educational experience all that they deserve.

If you have any ideas, or if you want to participate, please contact our Co-Presidents:
southrangeschoolpta@gmail.com.

Thank You - South Range PTA Officers

PTA SPONSORED EVENTS

Cultural Arts
As part of the PTA's Scholastic Programs, the Cultural Arts program provides special assemblies highlighting motivational or
social topics, music, math, science, or theatre. These presentations are intended to augment and enrich our children's education.

Enrichment
Our goal is to provide our children the opportunity to supplement and enrich their current educational experiences
in a familiar & safe environment. These special & unique programs stimulate students to explore new horizons, expand creativity,
experience different cultures, broaden their base knowledge, and increase repertoire of learned skills. Parents and Volunteers from the
Derry Community teach classes in such subjects as: Baton Twirler, Karate, Crafts, Yoga, Languages, and more!

Family Night
South Range School families and friends can enjoy a night at a Manchester Monarchs hockey game.

School Store
Features school supplies such as notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers, and erasers. Items may be purchased with teacher issued vouchers
or coupons (50 cents each) purchased by family & friends. Opens the first Friday of every month starting in October.

Ice Cream Social/Open House Project Night
A great family night at South Range School. On this night, your child(ren) gets a chance to showcase accomplishments in
their classroom to Parents/Guardians and Friends. You'll also get to enjoy a staff prepared sundae!

Kids-Go -hopping Night
A special night for the SRS kids to purchase holiday gifts for family and friends. While they shop in one room, Parents/Guardians are
able to relax in another room and enjoy goodies from the bake sale. Many
volunteers are needed to make this event a success.

Mayfair
This is another fun-filled evening for the whole family. There are games, crafts and goodies to enjoy. There's face painting, hair braiding,
and (weather permitting) outdoor games. Each SRS classroom will fill a huge basket, each with a theme, for the raffle table.

Reflections
This program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12
are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas:  dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition,
photography, and the visual arts (which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage). Each entry must be
the original work of one student only. An adult may not alter the creative integrity of a student’s work. Because the program is designed
to encourage and recognize each student’s individual creativity, help from an adult or collaboration with other students isn't allowed.

Field Trips
The PTA supplements classroom field trips attended by your children throughout the year.
Favorites? Strawbery Banke Museum and the Christa McAuliffe planetarium.

Staff Appreciation
This is a special event for teachers and staff. Parent volunteers provide special events & meals for the terrific teachers and staff at SRS.

R-I-N-G-O
The SRS version of Bingo! Instead of yelling out ‘BINGO’,each family brings a bell for the game & rings itl when their table has won.

5th Grade Memory Books
This is a laminated, soft covered book filled with photo memories of the 5th grade students at school events, in the classroom, and
at sports events during their last year at South Range. Their school portrait, group pictures, candid photos, their favorite memory,
and Parent/Guardian Tributes are included in the book. The 5th grade students receive their Memory Book in June.

PTA Newsletter and PTA Website
This is the PTA's way to keep everyone in the SRS community informed about all PTA events and happenings. The newsletter is
published monthly and posted on the website. The PTA website is kept updated as new events or information rolls in.

Playground
The PTA has funded the purchase of playground equipment for both Primary and Intermediate playgrounds.
South Range School's Familes and Friends volunteer their time on a weekend for a playground cleanup.
We also get other volunteers from the community, such as Home Depot and Chakarian Farms,  too help in the cleanup.

Room Parents
Room parents volunteer to help set-up and assist during classroom parties for the children such as: making reminder-phone calls
for parents who have signed up to bring an item for the parties, reading a book to a class, and assisting teachers in classroom work.

*NEW for 2011* LEGO Club
This is a new club for 2011 for Grades K to 5. The K-2 kids will be given instructions to build a certain theme and
they can either work individually or in a group. The Grades 3-5 will be given a more challenged theme.

*NEW for 2011* ECO Club
An after school program running on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from October 18th through June. This club will motivate SRS
students to learn how to treat every day as Earth Day. They will be taught how to be good stewards of the Earth by recycling, conserving
energy and how healthy food choices can make a positive environmental impact.
The PTA Meetings

PTA Meetings are generally held on the first Monday of every month in the SRS Library at 7:00 p.m. Meeting dates are published in the PTA Newsletter and Website, the
Principal's Newsletter and the PTA Bulletin Board.

The purpose of these meetings is to plan activities and chart the direction the PTA is taking. All PTA members are welcome to attend and share their thoughts & ideas.
The PTA minutes will be posted on the front foyer on the PTA Bulletin Board prior to the next scheduled meeting.

If you would like to have an item added to the meeting agenda, please contact one of the Co-Presidents.
